Amana Melome' Releases Her New Record "Recalibration"
A soulful and sophisticated return shaped by reflection, resilience and artistic clarity.

Amana Melome' describes her new album Recalibration as an awakening, a realignment of self that unfolds gradually rather than all at once. Throughout this record, there is the sense of an artist stepping into a clearer understanding of her own voice, not through reinvention but through refinement. And the title perfectly fits this description: this is music shaped by reflection, growth and a renewed sense of direction.
That sense of transformation can he heard in every layer of the record. Recalibration is not just a collection of songs, but a journey through shifting emotional landscapes - moving from stillness to motion, from introspection to quiet celebration. The soundscapes mirror this evolution beautifully, drifting between ambient textures, soulful grooves and jazz-inflected warmth. There is a natural ebb and flow at work here, as if each piece is responding to the one before it all creating a continuous thread rather than isolated moments.
This patience becomes one of the album’s defining qualities. It invites the listener inward, asking for presence rather than a passive consumption.
Songs unfold with a gentle confidence. Piano lines are considered yet effortless, often forming the backbone of each piece while allowing other elements: horns, subtle percussion, atmospheric layers all move around them with ease. There is a warmth to the arrangements that feels almost tactile, as though each sound has been carefully placed to create not just music, but environment.
Vocally, Amana really moves with quiet authority. Her vocals are nuanced and deeply expressive, never overstated and always intentional. There is a conversational quality to her phrasing, as if each lyric is being discovered in real time. This lends the album an intimacy that draws the listener closer, creating the sense that these songs are not being performed, but shared.
The title track stands as a central moment within the album - both grounded and expansive. It has forward motion, driven by subtle rhythmic shifts and layered instrumentation, while still maintaining the introspection that defines the record.
Elsewhere, the album leans into more contemplative territory, allowing space and silence to play an active role in shaping the experience. These quieter moments are full of intention and give the listener much room to reflect, absorb and to connect.
“Con C.ALMA” is one of the album’s most quietly captivating moments, a piece that feels both grounded and gently transportive. Built around a fluid, piano led foundation, the song has a subtle Latin jazz influence, its rhythm unfolding with an unforced elegance that feels almost instinctive. There’s a lightness to its movement that allows each phrase to settle before giving way to the next. The arrangement is understated yet rich in detail, with soft percussive textures and warm tonal colours creating a sense of atmosphere as much as melody. It’s a track that invites you to lean in, to follow its contours without expectation, and which captures the essence of the album itself: calm not as stillness, but as a state of balance in motion.
What makes Recalibration particularly compelling is its balance. It holds both lightness and depth, movement and stillness without ever feeling conflicted. There is definite cohesion that runs throughout, as though each decision whether musical or emotional has been made with clarity and purpose.
This is not an album driven by immediacy or trend. Instead, it feels timeless, and it is rooted in a broader musical language that draws from jazz, soul, folk and global influences without being confined by any one of them.
Ultimately, Recalibration is less about transformation as spectacle and more about transformation as process. It captures an artist in motion - not rushing toward something new, but moving steadily into a deeper understanding of what already exists within.
