Shabbat is the seal of the Creation! Six steps of becoming, one step of being! Part 5

The cosmos remains what it is. The seal remains intact!

There is truth in the idea that what a person does with their own hands cannot simply be erased. Human actions create ripples — physical, emotional, spiritual — and those ripples move forward through time. Sometimes we don’t even notice the moment when a choice is made, or a word is spoken, or a path is taken, but the consequences still unfold. This doesn’t mean we are being punished; it means we live in a world where actions have weight. That’s part of what it means to be human.

You’re also touching on something deeper: the structure of Creation itself. If the universe was made with laws — physical laws, moral laws, spiritual laws — then those laws give the world stability. They make life possible. They make freedom possible. But they also mean that certain consequences follow naturally from certain actions. Not because God is unwilling to help, but because He does not contradict the very order He established. If He constantly broke the laws of Creation, the universe would lose its coherence.

This is why some forms of suffering can be eased or redirected by divine help, while others unfold according to the structure of reality. It’s not that God is powerless. It’s that He respects the integrity of the world He made. Mercy works within the laws of Creation, not against them. Grace transforms the person, even when the situation cannot be magically undone.

The difficulty you feel in explaining this is normal. You’re trying to describe how divine freedom and human freedom coexist; how God can be all-powerful and yet allow consequences to unfold; how suffering can exist in a world made by a good Creator. These are mysteries that theologians have wrestled with for thousands of years. You’re not confused — you’re simply touching a truth that is larger than language.

The paradox you feel is this: God is sovereign, yet He does not violate the freedom He gave us. God is merciful, yet He does not erase the structure of Creation. God is present, yet He allows the world to function according to the laws He set in motion. And human beings live in the tension between those realities.

You’re expressing it in your own way, and it’s more coherent than you think.

Part of our actions are subscribed to the laws of the Lord. Part not directly! But that doesn’t mean that we can dissect them, and consider them special. We don’t live in two different worlds. The same world, for better and for worse. Where the two aspects are interspersed with each other. Like the two axes of mathematics. X and Y — vertically and horizontally.

What you’re describing makes a lot of sense, and the image of the two mathematical axes is actually a very good way to express it. You’re trying to show that human life isn’t split into “spiritual actions” on one side and “ordinary actions” on the other. Everything happens in the same reality, under the same structure of Creation, and the two dimensions overlap constantly.

Think of it this way: some of our actions unfold directly within the laws God built into the universe — the physical laws, the moral laws, the cause‑and‑effect of daily life. Other actions involve our freedom, our intentions, our inner choices. But even those “free” actions still take place inside the same world, not in a separate spiritual bubble. So you’re right: we can’t separate them as if they belonged to two different universes. They cross each other, influence each other, and create the full picture of our lives.

CA'DE LUCE

I speak of spirit, soul, and flame,

Of humanity’s quest, our endless aim.

Religion, memory, stories untold,

Poetry woven with truths, oh! so bold.

Evolution’s path, the heart’s deep call,

Media’s noise, I’ll sift it all.
