A Green and Glorious Day
Mrs. Wattles & Baby Blossom Celebrate Their First Boston St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day has always been a cheerful holiday in Boston, full of parades, music, shamrocks, and more green than a knitted koala could ever imagine. But this year felt extra special because it was the very first time Mrs. Wattles and her friend Baby Blossom got to celebrate it in their new home.
Back in Australia, St. Patrick’s Day was certainly known and enjoyed, but it didn’t sweep through the streets with quite the same energy. Here in Boston, though, the holiday practically sparkles. From storefronts to streetlamps, everything seems to glow with emerald pride. And for two newcomers eager to learn about local traditions, it was the perfect chance to join in the fun.
A Morning Full of Green Cheer
Mrs. Wattles woke up to the sound of cheerful music drifting from the television and the sight of Baby Blossom twirling in her brand‑new shamrock dress. The tiny green clovers shimmered as she spun, and Mrs. Wattles couldn’t help but squeak with delight. “You look absolutely festive,” she told her, straightening the little bow at the collar.

They spent the morning decorating their cozy corner of the house, hanging paper shamrocks, arranging green crayons for later coloring, and placing Baby Blossom’s tiny air‑plant terrarium in a sunny spot where it could join the celebration. Even Darwin Duck waddled by to admire the decorations before heading off to his own St. Patrick’s Day outing.
Boston vs. Australia: A Tale of Two Celebrations
As they settled in with warm drinks, Mrs. Wattles found herself reflecting on how different the holiday felt here compared to back home.
In Australia, St. Patrick’s Day was cheerful but relaxed. A day for wearing a bit of green, enjoying a friendly gathering, maybe listening to Irish music on the radio. It was warm, sunny, and often spent outdoors.
In Boston, however, the holiday felt like a full‑blown event. There were parades, bagpipes, dancers, and crowds dressed head‑to‑toe in green. Even the weather seemed to join the celebration, offering crisp air and bright skies that made the shamrocks shine.
“It’s like the whole city is giving Ireland a big, joyful hug,” Mrs. Wattles said, and Baby Blossom nodded enthusiastically.
A Trip to Ireland… Through the Screen
Since the crowds were a bit too big for Baby Blossom’s tiny stitched feet, the two decided to celebrate in a quieter, cozier way. They curled up together and opened YouTube to watch something they’d heard was breathtaking: the Scenic Horizons 8K video “Ireland 8K | Emerald Serenity.”

The moment the video began, they were transported.
Rolling green hills stretched across the screen, dotted with sheep and kissed by soft sunlight. Waves crashed against rugged cliffs. Mist drifted through ancient forests. Castles stood proudly on distant hillsides. The colors were so vivid that Baby Blossom reached out as if she could touch the grass.
Mrs. Wattles felt her little knitted heart swell. “No wonder Boston loves this holiday so much,” she whispered. “Ireland is beautiful.”
They watched the entire video, letting the music and landscapes wash over them. It felt like a tiny adventure. A peaceful journey to a place they’d never been, but suddenly felt connected to.
A Cozy Celebration to Remember
After their virtual trip, Mrs. Wattles and Baby Blossom spent the afternoon coloring shamrocks, reading picture books about Ireland, and enjoying a simple green‑themed snack. They may not have marched in a parade or danced to live music, but their celebration was full of warmth, curiosity, and joy.
As the day came to a close, Baby Blossom curled up beside her terrarium, still wearing her shamrock dress, and Mrs. Wattles wrapped a soft blanket around them both.
“Our first Boston St. Patrick’s Day,” she said softly. “And what a lovely one it was.”
And with that, they ended the day feeling a little more connected — to Boston, to Ireland, and to each other.
