Every great adventure becomes even better when shared with a friend and for Mrs. Wattles, that friend has arrived in the form of a bright‑billed, big‑hearted Boston native named Darwin Duck. Today, we’re delighted to introduce him properly and share the story of how this cheerful little duck waddled into Mrs. Wattles’ life and quickly became one of her favorite companions.

A Duck with Boston Roots

Darwin Duck grew up in the Boston area, where he developed a love for curiosity, creativity, and cozy indoor activities, especially during New England’s long winters. He’s the kind of duck who always has a pencil tucked behind his wing, a puzzle book in his backpack, and a knack for spotting interesting details wherever he goes.

While Mrs. Wattles traveled all the way from Australia to begin her new life in New England, Darwin was already exploring the region’s libraries, parks, and historic corners. When the two finally met, it felt like the perfect match: a knitted koala with a heart full of wonder and a Boston duck with a mind full of ideas.

A Friendship Stitched Together by Curiosity

From the moment Darwin quacked hello, Mrs. Wattles knew she had found a kindred spirit. He was warm, welcoming, and eager to show her the little joys of his hometown. She, in turn, brought her gentle Australian charm, her love of cozy activities, and her stitched‑together sense of adventure.

Their friendship blossomed quickly. Darwin admired Mrs. Wattles’ bravery in traveling across the world, and she admired his enthusiasm for learning and exploring. Together, they’ve become a delightful duo, one soft and cuddly, the other bright and bouncy, ready to discover everything New England has to offer.

A Day of Coloring, Building, and Exploring

Today was a perfect example of what makes their friendship so special. Mrs. Wattles and Darwin spent the day enjoying three of their favorite activities: coloring, LEGO building, and exploring a local library.

They began their morning with a coloring session, spreading out crayons, markers, and a stack of cheerful pages. Mrs. Wattles chose soft pastels, carefully filling in flowers and animals, while Darwin gravitated toward bold colors and geometric shapes. Their pages looked completely different and completely wonderful. They admired each other’s work, laughing at the way Darwin’s bright orange bill always seemed to match at least one crayon he picked up.

Next came LEGO time, which brought out their creative sides in full force. Darwin, ever the engineer, started building a tiny tower with impressive precision. Mrs. Wattles, meanwhile, crafted a cozy little cottage with a blue roof and a tiny window just big enough for a koala to peek through. When they combined their creations, they ended up with a miniature village that felt like the beginning of a grand story.

In the afternoon, they set off to explore a local library, one of Darwin’s favorite places and one Mrs. Wattles has quickly grown to love. They wandered through the children’s section, flipping through picture books and pointing out their favorite illustrations. Darwin showed her the quiet reading nooks he used to visit, and Mrs. Wattles shared how libraries in Australia always felt like magical hideaways. Together, they checked out a few new books to enjoy later, including a mystery that Darwin insisted they read together.

A Friendship Full of Possibilities

As the sun set on their busy day, Mrs. Wattles and Darwin Duck returned home with full hearts and colorful memories. Their friendship is still new, but it already feels like something special, a blend of creativity, curiosity, and cozy companionship.

Mrs. Wattles is grateful to have found such a wonderful friend in her new home, and Darwin is thrilled to have a partner in adventure. Whether they’re solving puzzles, exploring libraries, building tiny worlds, or discovering new corners of New England, one thing is certain: this duo is just getting started.

Stay tuned for more of their adventures. There are countless stories waiting to be told, and Mrs. Wattles and Darwin can’t wait to share every one.
