Depression Isn't For Men Is It
It’s not a thing for men. depression is a woman's thing
Depression Swallow The Storm
Depression is not for a man,
that’s a woman’s weight, they say.
Men are strong,
made to stand like stone,
to fight their battles in silence,
to bleed without a sound.
So he doesn’t speak.
Not when his hands tremble
He can’t show he is so weak,
not when sleep slips away
and the ceiling becomes
his only witness.
Tears burn his eyes,
but men don’t cry.
He learned that long before
he knew what sorrow was,
like learning to grip a hammer
or bite his tongue.
So battle on.
Don’t seek help,
they’ll only laugh.
Call you weak,
ask why a man
would ever break.
when the storm rises inside him,
he swallows it down,
again and again.
That is because the world,
was never taught
to hold a man’s pain.
Maybe tomorrow,
when he can’t carry on,
his view will change.
He will get help maybe.
When you live alone,
it’s hard to cope with this.
Still no one hears your cry for help
till it’s too late.

This hit me really deep Mine isn't clinical but still it's there and causing problems We should share a lot more than we do, but the problem is in find people who are willing to listen to us. Listen without judgement. Listen with kindness and forgive us for not expressing ourselves perfectly as we learn how to healthily express ourselves. Sadly, those things are extremely rare on this planet. And it's one reason that I think men need at least a few close friends who are also men. In my experience, they're way less likely to treat us with derision when we have what I call "unapproved" feelings. Growing up, my dad tried desperately to teach me that my feelings matter and I need to learn how to express them in healthy ways. Mom's lessons stuck a bit better. Men don't cry and if you cry, then you'll be ignored for a few days until you learn to be a man. Brutal stuff.
This is a very sad and yet caring poem for men and women to share. Depression does not care whether you a woman or man. Good job and we men really should share more than we do.
