Egyptian Lovers
They met by the Nile,
water flowing like a secret
hands brushing over the reeds,
eyes catching sun and shadow.
He traced her hair,
like sand he played with it,
she laughed the desert bowed,
even the wind held its breath.
They kissed under papyrus,
the sun melting behind pyramids,
their hearts carved into stone,
but time moved like the river.
Night came with stars,
he held her close,
she smelled of frankincense
sun shadows danced on walls.
They parted with the dawn,
promises carried on the wind,
he left footprints in sand,
she traced them with her hand.
They lived in memory,
in every grain of gold,
every stone, every river,
their love eternal, silent, burning.
