Growing up
Well, only I was growing up at the time...
but
Growing up
I remember watching my younger sister slowly lose herself
not all at once
but in pieces, no one else seemed to notice
~
She was slowly losing her hair
her body grew frail
her skin turned pale
her body was trying to leave
but her eyes... refused to go with it
~her eyes were bright blue~
with fragments of green
her eyes still held the universe
even when her body felt like it was collapsing into nothing...
~
I begged time to slow down
but I saw a universe learning to say goodbye...
she died... but those eyes, remained somewhere secretive
Those eyes stopped showing me the future
and started showing reflections of everything I was about to lose
but not forever~
~
No matter how much it took from her,
it would never learn how to take her from me
I want her to know that I don't remember a girl who lost all her hair and had a version of her being stolen away
I remember her as the little girl
bright blue eyes
with fragments of green
who believed
she would grow up
and be something
beautiful~
~
When I gave birth to my first child at twenty-seven
My daughter opened her eyes
her eyes are bright blue
with fragments of green
She came back to me~

Sadly beautiful and beautifully sad, but mostly beautiful. The music reminds me a little of Terry Riley
This is so beautiful. I really hope this win Kodah 🏆 💓💞💕💟
