๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œYes I was the one who screamed! A mouse just ran across the room from that cabinet! a-a-A mouse!!!โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธโ€What? where?โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œYou know, I have been thinking it might be time to move. Now seems as good a time as anyโ€ฆโ€

๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œYou want to pack up and move our entire lives because a rodent took up residence in our kitchen?!โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œWhere there is oneโ€ฆ. There are manyโ€ฆ just listen.. ๐Ÿ˜ณlistenโ€ฆ๐ŸคจI can hear them chewing away at the skirting boards making little holes to build their new homesโ€ฆ..โ€๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคจ

๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œMice donโ€™t build, they scurry- and poop.โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œOh no no no no! They take over entire homes like little furry gangs- they keep all our food stuff hostage and chew through our clothes! Nope!!โ€

(Throws hands about frantically)

โ€œItโ€™s time to move! We wonโ€™t even need to pack. We can just buy new things.โ€

(Looks down at his feet.)

โ€œWe may need to take this table thoughโ€ฆ..โ€œ๐Ÿง

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œYou are being ridiculous!๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œI see you are still on the table.โ€๐Ÿ˜

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, itโ€™s all sorted now, you will see.โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œWhat do you have in that crate?! Ohhhh no no. That crate is wayyy too big to catch a mouse with!โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œNo no. Itโ€™s not for catching the mouse. ๐Ÿคช This is!โ€ (Opens the crate)

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ(Out walks the biggest damn mouse I ever did see. Noooo wait. Looking again. Thatโ€™s no mouse. . . . ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜ณ)

<Read really fast >

(Wooooshhh! Straight across the room and under the table, this warrior looking creature zoomed along the floorboards and expertly caught the mouse nonchalantly strolling about their humble abode.) >

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œHah! ๐Ÿ˜€Success. Now what shall we call him?โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œYou got a cat to catch the mouse?โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œOk, super cat?โ€

(Wooosh! )

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ โ€œhah.. Apparently we have more than one mouseโ€ฆ โ€ฆโ€ฆ Should I get another cat?โ€

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€œNo!โ€

Story behind why I wrote this piece- Impulse Purchases by VJHD

Have you ever considered how much we buy for the sake of impulse?

How much money and resources we spend in order to repair a situation or fill a hole we have.

Impulsively we buy what makes us feel happy or safe or emotionally complete.

I was kind of thinking of that story we hear as children, the woman swallows a bunch of animals to catch the fly! She literally gorged on Impulse spending until she explodes. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Itโ€™s a bit of a funny story for us as kids, but do we ever teach our kids the moral of the story? Or the moral I think it should be?

All the items on the shelves by the counters, at the end of the aisles, in our inboxes and popping up in the corner of our screens, all of the fabulously worded videos on social media tempting us to spend money and even the โ€˜free items -just pay postageโ€™ gimmick?! Do we really need so much stuff?

Now, obviously this piece was not about buying all of that stuff, it was just a silly simple dialogue piece for a โ€˜@societysecretlypuuurrfectpoetsโ€™ writing prompt and then re-submitted today to the vocal challenge, but this woman did go to the pet store and buy a cat just to catch a mouse! This man made a good point, what will we buy to catch the cat? Or better question, how much do you need to buy to maintain the cat, feed it, care for it, spend time with it?

If we slow down and take more time before we make impulsive decisions, they wouldnโ€™t be impulsive decisions anymore, they would be informed ones. Frankly, I think we could talk ourselves out of a lot of our purchases.
