“What Comes Back” Challenge

He walked along the lonely beach

With only his thoughts for company,

Contemplating how his life had changed

Since the sands had come in this year.

⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳

Every year was just the same

In summer, they were there,

As winter approaches, they get swept away,

Till summer comes again next year.

⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳

His life had changed in so many ways

Since the sand had filled the beach,

Regrets had taken the place of dreams,

Since winter had stripped the beach.

⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳

He had few friends and kept to himself

A lonely life, it might appear,

Before the sands came back

He hoped it would be a better year.

⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳

Like a silent clock, only he could read,

The seasonal shifting of the sands,

Swept in and out at the mercy of the tide,

Where would he be when the sands came back again?

⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳

Till next time,

Calvin
