Monday, Moon Day
The cycle starts again đđ

Oh, I wish it wasnât Monday.
How many times have I said that? How many Sunday nights do I spend dreading my limited freedom for the next 5 days?
Itâs the way weâve structured our society, I suppose. Those with traditional work schedules anyway.
Monday is named for the moon (Moon-day), not just in English. âLunesâ in Spanish and âLundiâ in French, both deriving from âLuna.â
I think weâre the only Romance language that doesnât refer to the moon or Monday with a word starting in L.
But we do say âlunarâ because of this. So I canât hate the day of the moon, can I?
I always wonder what would happen if the week was switched around from what we have now. Would we feel the same way we do about Mondays? I guess not, but it also doesnât seem that simple.
I learned that in Muslim countries, the weekend is actually Wednesday and Thursday. I think itâs supposed to be so the week starts on the holy day of Friday.
Itâs so strange to think of. In the West, whether youâre Christian or Jewish, you have your holy day during the weekend. So this is the exact opposite.
So even if you go by this week structure, weâd be happy and celebrate on Wednesday night, feel the impending doom on Thursday night, and no matter how holy it is, youâd hate Fridays.
Itâs hard to say though, because maybe they also donât have the same rigid work/life ratio. But anyway, there will always be one night at the beginning of the weekend, one night at the end, and one first day of the week.
Itâs just the cycle of a week, a month, a year⌠time in general. It shouldnât be about saying one day of the week is inherently better or worse. Because no matter what, there will be some form of a Friday and a Monday.
