Reflections of You and Me

A poem inspired by the song "Reflections" by The Supremes

Reflections of the love,

between you and me,

love that from the very start,

I knew was meant to be.

Reflections of the world we created,

a world of special dreams,

where together we could wander -

dancing beneath the stars at night.

No matter what the season,

our world kept the bad away,

after every stormy day –

a rainbow bridge spanned a sparkling blue sky.

As raindrops like diamonds,

glittered all around,

your smiling eyes,

made the world seem like paradise.

Reflections of our lives,

that seemed to have no end,

until we came to the crossroads,

where we had to part at last.

Forever memories of the past,

would bring you back to me

and in my mind I could always see –

that world of you and me.

My tears caused ripples upon the water,

as the river flowed by,

so have flowed the years –

since you left me.

Quiet waters,

just the rushing of the river,

seem to whisper to me –

hold on to the moment when you cross that river.

For on the other side,

you’ll be waiting for me,

until then still waters,

calm my restless soul

and forever in my mind I see –

reflections of the love between you and me.
