SAD
The tears are dry yet the thoughts still hurt

SAD
The mail came.
Your name on the envelope.
Empty inside. Nothing.
I wondered if you remembered me.
Or if you ever did.
Does absence echo louder than words.
The chair you always sat in waits.
The clock ticks slower when I think of you.
I traced the lines of your old letters.
The ink faded, but the memory stayed sharp.
Did you forget the mornings we laughed.
The nights we told secrets, no one could hear.
The silence of your absence fills the room.
Does absence echo louder than words.
I fold the envelope, put it away.
The echo lingers. Will it ever fade.
