She sells her body on cold dark nights

Some pay some hurt her, some take for free

She sells her body on cold dark nights

She stands there in the foggy mist,

A shadow where the streetlights twist,

Hands outstretched, a silent plea,

To men with eyes too dark to see.

The night is cold, her voice is thin,

Hope worn down like weathered skin,

Coins fall like rusted drops of rain,

Feeding hunger, numbing pain.

In the alleys dark and cold,

For money, men take her,

While some pay, some take it Free.

She to numb to cry,

she needs cash to live doesn’t she?

I was undecided whether to like or not. Truth is never pretty but we can dress it up. Lies are always so beautiful until you realize it's just cardboard. I abhor people that judge cuz when that is all you have, either die or do something..between a rock and a hard place..and the vultures await.

This is just too plain sad.

I have an ex who does this now. So sad. Great poem!

Wow, this was a powerful read. The imagery and emotion hit hard, and the writing carries such a raw, haunting beauty. It really makes you stop and think.
