The Crown

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 days ago 2 min read

Verse 1

You brag and call yourself “bitch” like it's a golden crown,

You’re not rising, you're not clever— you’re not empowered

You call it strength, you call it righteous,

but, baby, it’s just the misguided fear of failure you try to hide.

Pre‑Chorus

Baby, Pride in cruelty isn’t strength at all,

it’s just the quiet sound when your soul dies and falls.

Chorus

Girl, There’s no honor in the harmful things you do and say,

no glory in the venom you choose to spray

Kindness builds empires for all to see,

But meanness and cruelty ends them, eventually.

So boast if you want — but hear this truth:

when you celebrate being unkind,

you’re only showing

how small you’ve chosen to be.

how small you’ve chosen to be.

Verse 2

You wear the title like it’s gold,

but it’s just a story you’ve been told.

Baby, Real strength is gentle, and real power saves,

not the empty noise your ego makes

Outro

So, Wear that flimsy crown if you want to

but it won’t make you a queen.

Cuz Only love can lift you higher

than the throne you’ve never seen

(Pre‑Chorus

Baby, Pride in cruelty isn’t strength at all,

it’s just the quiet sound when your soul dies and falls.

Chorus

Girl, There’s no honor in the harmful things you do and say,

no glory in the venom you choose to spray

Kindness builds empires for all to see,

But meanness and cruelty ends them, eventually.

So boast if you want — but hear this truth:

when you celebrate being unkind,

you’re only showing

how small you’ve chosen to be.

how small you’ve chosen to be.

How small you've chosen to be
