President Pezeshkian Demands 3 Things to Stop War.

Iranian President Talking Peace.

Pezeshkian and Putin.

The Iranian President Pezeshkian has been speaking about the three things that the country wants to stop the war. Firstly, Iran's legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and a firm international guarantee that the country won't be attacked in the future. Mr. Pezeshkian said he had been speaking to President Putin and Shabaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Underlining Iran's commitment to peace. Mr. Pezeshkian personally thanked Russia for standing by his nation in the war. Russia has called for a "de-escalation" of the conflict. Russia has supplied Iran with humanitarian aid as the war has unfolded.

Some say, despite all the ordinances dropped on Iran, the US and Israel are losing the war. Why, because despite everything, Iran hasn't buckled and thrown in the towel. Iran has hit back hard against its enemies. Some say Trump has been surprised by Iran's resilience. Netanyahu and Trump thought that Iran would surrender, as Trump had asked for when Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with other top leaders, was assassinated by an Israeli strike on his compound, where he was holding a meeting. The irony of the attack is this: people whom Trump thought would make better leaders than Khamenei were also taken out. If anything, Iran hit back with its arsenal of missiles and drones at Israel and the Arab nations hosting American bases.

Some think Trump may be looking for a way out of this war. As Trump said at a press conference, "There wasn't much more to attack in Iran". Given the number of bombs and missiles hitting Iran's infrastructure, military, government assets, etc, he's probably right. On the other hand, Trump may be just putting on a brave face, realising he may have bitten off more than he can chew. Trump hasn't ruled out boots on the ground in Iran itself. But that could see the US in a forever war like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam. Something Trump said he wanted to end well that went out of the window pretty quickly, didn't it?

Trump has spoken of regime change or the much vaunted people's uprising against the Iranian people's Islamic oppressors. Well, as yet, if ever, none of that has happened. Iran has proved time and time again that it can endure and easily put leaders in the place of the fallen. The government and its style of leadership seem built for traumas. You cut off the head of the snake, and it grows another head. You take out the top brass of the military, and commanders step up to take over.

Since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, Iran has refused to talk to America. It definitely will not waste its time talking to Israel, and frankly, that probably doesn't disturb Netanyahu's sleep at night (although I'm sure Iran's weapons exploding in Israel do).

Israel and the US's answer to that is continuing the war. Iran's answer back is continuing the war. So it seems both sides are stuck in a cycle where neither side can back down. Unless there is a middle way, a face-saving idea where all sides can say they achieved their aims. Short of the Islamic regime falling for the US and Israel, that would be satisfaction that Iran's nuke industry had been destroyed and that its military capability had been severely weakened. For Iran, it would be the survival of the regime and that they had survived the attacks of two of the most powerful nations on Earth.

Total victory for either side is probably a bridge too far to quote the title of an old World War II movie. Both can keep pounding each other from now until Judgment Day and achieve not very much. The problem with wars is that once you start them, as history has proved, you cannot predict, although you can speculate, how long a conflict will last, or what the end- game looks like and what comes after once the war is concluded.
