Vortex Locations to Visit in California
Exploring California's Vortexes

What Is a Vortex?
California is home to numerous vortexes, with Mount Shasta being the largest one in the state and also one of the largest in the world.
If you're not familiar with what a vortex is, it's thought to be an invisible swirling mass of energy that occurs where ley lines intersect. Depending on the type of vortex, some people say they feel revitalized, experience healing powers, or find a sense of clarity and calmness.
Here's a look at some of the best-known vortexes in California and how to experience them.

Joshua Tree Vortexes
Joshua Tree is home to multiple vortexes scattered throughout the area that you can visit. One of the most popular vortexes is that at Giant Rock, which is claimed to be the largest free-standing boulder in the world.
Standing 7 stories tall, this boulder once housed a home underneath it. Built by a German prospector, Frank Critzer, this one-room home afforded Critzer an inexpensive place to live.
At one point, due to his German last name, Critzer was accused of being a spy, and to get him out of his home, authorities tossed in a tear gas grenade, which sadly ignited some sticks of dynamite and blew both Crtizer and his home up. You can still see the opening underneath the rock where his home was.
Besides this vortex, there are numerous others you can explore in the area, with many hiking trails throughout the region. You can hike on your own (check out the Skull Rock and Cap Rock nature trails) or take one of the different hiking tours offered, as well as rock climbing and Hummer tours.
If you're looking for more of a retreat, there's the Joshua Tree Retreat Center, which contains 17 energy vortexes on the property.

Integratron in Landers
Outside of Joshua Tree is the community of Landers, which is home to the Integratron and a place for rejuvenation through the use of sound baths. Located on a different vortex than those in Joshua Tree, the building of Integratron is quite an interesting story.
The structure's creator, George Van Tassel, claims he was given building instructions by aliens from the planet Venus. First, these instructions were given telepathically, then in person.
Van Tassel worked on the building for many years, raising funds for it through UFO conventions and donations. Unfortunately, he passed away before the structure was completed, so two of its most important parts were never completed. One was that it was supposed to be able to rejuvenate human cells, and the other was that it could be used as a time machine.
Today, it's used for sound baths where visitors can relax while listening to the sounds of crystal bowls being played live.
If you're curious about this place but don't want to do the sound baths, you are welcome to walk around the outside of the property to take in the vortex's energy or relax on one of the many hammocks in the courtyard. There's also a gift shop with an extensive collection of crystals.

Desert Hot Springs
A little north of Palm Springs is the city of Desert Hot Springs, which is located on top of a large energy vortex. The area is known for its healing powers not only from the vortex but also from its natural hot and cold mineral springs.
Numerous resorts welcome visitors to relax in their springs and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. However, if you're just looking to pass through, you can get a day pass at the Desert Hot Springs Spa, which happens to be located in the middle of the vortex.
There are also several hiking trails, which will allow you to experience the energy of the area while enjoying its beauty. When visiting, I suggest a stop at Cabot's Pueblo Museum. Cabot Yerxa, an artist and world traveler, was responsible for first discovering the mineral springs in 1913.
In time, he built a four-story, 5,000-square-foot pueblo that has been converted into a museum displaying beautiful Native American art and artifacts.

Ojai Vortex
Located at the base of the Topatopa Mountains is the quaint town of Ojai, which sits atop an energy vortex. The town draws many artists and musicians due to its calming nature, which is quite apparent with all of the beautiful art galleries in town.
If you're looking to recharge, you can visit Meher Mount, a highly spiritual place at the top of Sulphur Mountain.
Should hiking or bike riding be your thing, the Shelf Road Trail is very popular. You get some beautiful views, and there are plenty of benches along the way if you would like to stop and rest.
For those who enjoy meditating, Meditation Mound is recommended. For a small fee, you can walk the beautiful gardens and enjoy a guided meditation. Reservations are required in advance. In addition, Ojai has a variety of retreats to help restore your mind and spirit.
Mount Shasta Vortexes
Mount Shasta contains one of the largest vortexes in the country. It is also considered one of the world's most spiritual destinations. Native Americans have long believed it to be a very sacred site.
Not only is the mountain home to a large vortex, but there are also numerous smaller vortexes throughout the mountain.
If you're hiking there and want to really feel the energy, some suggested locations include Ascension Rock, Panther Meadows, McCloud Waterfalls, and Pluto's Cave, which is actually a lava tube, as Mount Shasta used to be an active volcano.
If you're into rock climbing, there are several places you can climb at various experience levels while feeling the energy. If you're new to rock climbing, I recommend Cantara Crag, which is really good for first-time climbers.
Should you enjoy meditating, you can certainly absorb the energy of the vortexes all over the mountain while in a meditative state. In fact, some people travel to the mountain in hopes of (while meditating) getting a glimpse into Telos, a supposed city inside Mount Shasta that is said to have been built by Lemurians after the collapse of their continent.
Do you prefer a tour? There are several companies that offer tours in the area, including hiking, rock climbing, and spiritual tours, either on foot or by shuttle services.
Vortexes in California
As you can see, there are quite a few vortex locations and activities throughout the Golden State. I suggest you check with any of these locations in advance for their hours and times, and whether there are any fees.
While not everyone feels the power of the vortexes, some feel they have gone through a complete energy transformation after visiting.
