The Last Week
A last-minute piece, but I think that I have something to say… It is the day before I fly home to see my family for the usual two-week spread in my old hometown. I am not looking forward to seeing anything related to the city (for the most part). I am much more interested in how time has changed all of us over the last time I was at home, attempting to enjoy the holidays at my least favourite time of the year. And then I remembered this challenge, right in the middle of laundry, packing and planning for the rides to the airport.

'A Complete Unknown' - A Review. Top Story - December 2024.
It was a very pleasant surprise to come home on the Tuesday of this past week and discover, over dinner and exams needing my evaluations, that I had won a pair of passes to see an early showing of the Bob Dylan biography, “A Complete Unknown”. It was the very next day – 7 pm on Wednesday at Banque Scotia Cinemas in Montréal – and I could not find anyone at the last minute to join me.

Deny, Defend, Depose...and Die?. Top Story - December 2024.
I am going to make the assumption that you have been following current events in the United States over the last week. I am going to imagine that you have some very strong opinions about what happened both on the streets of New York...and online. And I am going to assume that you will hear me out and accept my particular take on this (no trigger warnings necessary or provided).

Gimmie Shelter
I never thought that a piece devoted to “the warmth, comfort, and the joy found during winter’s coldest moments” would involve the bus services of my hometown, but this is where I found such peace of mind and all the combined elements above during what was surely the coldest and darkest time I had on a return trip home.
