Have a Quick Bite
Europe Poffertjes Netherlands Made with yeast and buckwheat flour, poffertjes are small, round, puffy Dutch pancakes. The Dutch use a special pan called poffertjespan to bake them. When prepared for an outdoor event, they’re served warm on a piece of cardboard. These are usually eaten as a snack and topped with melted butter and powdered sugar. During Christmastime poffertjes can be bought at many street carts.

Old Photos
Old photos provide comfort to me, taking me back to yesterday. So much time has passed but they comfort me and take me back to the places and faces that used to be. I return to these days with every old photo I see and relive it all once more in my daydreams. It seems that was such a simple time, and there were many smiles while in the photos my family and friends wave to me and give me a feeling of comfort when I can see it all again.

Long Island On My Mind
Even though Long Island is not one of the five boroughs, it is very much a place to explore when visiting New York City. It is a primarily urbanized and densely populated island and part of the New York metropolitan area. Long Island begins at New York Harbor east of Manhattan Island and extends eastward into the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of four counties – Kings (the New York borough of Brooklyn) and the borough of Queens, Nassau County, and Suffolk County. New Yorkers use the term Long Island to refer to Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The county was established in 1683 and named after English queen Catherine of Braganza. At this time, it included Nassau County of Long Island. Then in 1898, Queens became a New York City borough.

Brooklyn Roads. Top Story - September 2022.
Even when you leave the borough of Manhattan behind and head into Brooklyn you can still see the incredible Manhattan skyline from many points in Brooklyn. This is the borough where I was born and raised, and often, as I daydream I set off on Brooklyn roads and return there in my mind.
