Demonic Enchantment. Content Warning.
From atop the buildings, I stand surveying this new strange city that my chase has led me to, the City of Angels. I can’t help but compare this majestic city with the tiny burgh where this pursuit began. Even after all these centuries, the sight of too-crowded streets gives me pause, making me uncomfortable. Descent: Part Fourteen. Content Warning.
I couldn’t move. Could barely breathe. Sage smiled at me, lips pulling back from his almost frighteningly human teeth in the kind of smile I think Shir Khan might have given to Mowgli. Then his eyes closed, smile shifting into something softer, gentler. Like he was an old man listening to classical music and remembering when he was young. Wistful.

As One Possessed
I’ve followed the witch throughout twenty-eight lifetimes, chased her across the changing continents, and pursued her on the seven seas. I slowed, torn between trying to help her and sprinting, close as I could manage, down the aisle. But she waved me off.

Before It Ends. Content Warning.
As I entered my mom's bedroom, it was dark and hard to see with her dark blinds up keeping the light out from the windows. I tried to turn her light on but it wasn't working, so I turned my phone flashlight on and shined it towards the bed. I saw my mom laying there with her eyes wide open, fear in her eyes as she looked straight ahead above her, her body was stiff as a board like she couldn't move.

Shadow’s Serenade
A blast of wind surges into the room, and I sit up, shuddering. The velvet shades twine themselves, moving among each other as the wind yells. The ancient wooden windows squeak, a update of how this hacienda holds on to its final breath. The ancient, uneven sleeping cushion moans as I move, and my feet twist at the coldness of the floor.
