Reverie Time
It is All Just a Dream, right? Jeremiah was sitting in class spacing out. He sat at the edge of his classroom closest to the window. The clouds in his view reminded him of when he used to play for the school's baseball team. Jeremiah chuckled to the thought of ever playing sports again.

Dream Date
Dream Date The best I never had… Today I’m going to a superbowl party and I don’t know anyone but the host.. Looking for a hook up, wasn’t on my mind I had several contenders in the race that was to be over sooner than later. The house filled with testosterone and team spirit there was plenty of trash talking to go around. A house divided like the eggs I was making the guest started to fill the living room. As the guest start to arrive I’m making devil eggs and this is the first time I have ever made them. Scooping them delicately and placing them on the party tray, one guy kept looking and asked who was I. I started to make the fruit and nut tray and kept my head low I wasn’t drawing any attention to my self. With a variety of beverages from La Tache, to Cosmos, to sex on the beach, to daiquiris.. Our appetizers are ranging from wings, to guacamole, dips to a cheeseboard with; Stilton, fig, grapes, honey, nuts, pears, and shortbread cookies. With all those wonderful smells filling the air, I was done with my task and could enjoy the festivities. The guy who inquired about me introduced himself by the way l’m Shun, hi I’m Renee.. I giggled like a school girl on the yard. He said “ I saw you working hard, those eggs were delicious” I said thanks. He offered to make me a glass of wine he said this was his first time having red wine.

When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go
Back when I was a little kid, and we're talking twenty some-odd years ago, I went to daycare after school. It was fairly normal, as far as daycares go. After school, I would be accompanied by other children and a teacher as we walked around the corner to the other school where daycare was hosted. This also happened pretty much immediately after the bell rang, as well, which meant we needed to form a line in the hallway quickly and wait for a teacher. Only then could we leave the building.

In Vino Verisimilitude
“Savannah !” I called as I saw her enter the patio from the street. I made an effort to say her name in the perfect timbre; happy recognition, a little bit excited, but not overly so. I recognized her from the dress. She’d said she would be wearing a summer dress with big red flowers on a black background. She also wore a floppy brimmed summer hat with a ribbon that matched her dress. I couldn’t immediately make her out from pure facial recognition because of the hat, but i couldn’t miss her chosen semiotic; dark and exotic. For a moment I worried that the hat might conceal that she was much older than her profile pictures, a common sleight in modern romance known as 'catfishing'. But when she was closer I saw that she more than did her pix justice. And I liked that she had dressed up. The beauty of going around a second time in your forties is that you know what you like. I myself had spent hours considering the raw silk trousers, pale blue linen shirt, and brown suede driving loafers I wore. I had agonized about a sport jacket, but finally decided against it because of the heat. It might be too much and I might sweat too much.

I Almost Failed my First Year of College
Nearly ten years ago, I moved away from home to go to college for engineering. I was going to be living on campus in one of the dorms. I was both excited and nervous about being away from home for the first time. I also knew engineering was a very challenging and competitive program, and that made me a little nervous. However, I was a hard worker, and I had gotten good grades in high school, so I thought I would be okay.

"Got Your Nose"
“Got yer noze,” I heard a male voice mumble. “No, you don’t!”, I heard a soft deliberate reply. “Yes, I do! See right here,” he laughed as he presented his right hand, palm up with his thumb squeezed firmly between his index and middle finger to represent her nose. They both giggled aloud oblivious to my presence. I watched, while more listened, as this adorable couple with Down’s Syndrome walked towards me on the river pathway. Repeating this comedic drama over and over as they laughed louder with each act. He would pretend to grab her nose over and over, laughing harder each time. Their voices so sincere. Their love overflowing so much, I almost tripped over it. I could still hear them carrying on as they passed. I swore they were laughing so hard stuff was actually coming out of their noses and possibly his thumb as well.

Super Bowl Crashers
Where do I even begin.... The morning of February 4th, 2018. Super Bowl Sunday. My girlfriend’s jobs have always had perks, and this particular year was no exception. She had been working for an experiential production company that was throwing some of the biggest parties of Super Bowl LII and had been going back and forth from LA to Minneapolis throughout the year prepping for these events. As a result, she was set up with an apartment right across the street from U.S. Bank stadium.

Dogs Rules vs. Mans
Most of us were taught the same rules by our parents, look both ways before you cross the street, say please and thank you and treat people the way you want to be treated. Sure we all had to be home when the street lights came on and answering the home phone was always a test “Dies resident, Greg Speaking”, this was long before I became Crack Egg. And every one of your parents friends were Mr. and Mrs. whatever. Those rules carried me through until I started school and then the rules started adding up.

Moonlight & Merlot
Let me start by saying that I have not been on a date in a very long time. I was in a relationship for 5 years. I ended it when I realized it was going nowhere. I wasn’t really looking for another relationship, but after 2 years of being alone I decided to jump back into the dating game.

Drunk Fate
Vinny splashed some aftershave on his face and grinned in the mirror. He walked over to his bedroom and put on his clothes lying on the bed: a cream colored button-down, black pants, and a black jacket. He could hear the phone ringing over the TV playing in the other room. “Eh, they'll call back,” he reasoned. Attempting to sit on the edge of the bed to put on his socks, he stumbled and landed on his rear-end. “Oh no.” He plopped into a sturdier position. His phone blasted its ringtone again. “What? What?!” Vinny marched to the phone to seize this annoyance.

The Butterfly & The Blackbird
Two forms lay entwined on the coarsely textured white sheets. The moon fed its light sparingly, spoonful by spoonful onto the couple as the curtains shifted in the breeze to permit the intrusion of light. Stars slipped like tears down the black cheek of the night. A passing anxiety swept through Philip upon recognizing the sound of a distant, hooting owl: a harbinger of impending, worrisome change.

Merlot
Here I sit in the Central Ave. Café, alone and waiting for my internet date to appear. It’s a comfortable afternoon in July, and I enjoy coming to this Café on dates for three reasons. One, the booze. That’s a no brainer. Relaxed inhibitions and all that. Two, the view of the board walk is incredible, and this spot is surprisingly low key as such. That brings me to three, the cliental is local enough that the place is never empty, and thereby a safe public space. It’s not a rowdy nightclub so you can hear yourself talk. You can feel comfortable here meeting friends or alone, just reading a book and lounging in your casuals. Tonight, I have dolled myself in a floral-patterned House of Foxy top, some thrifted grey chinos, and some enchanting ‘Miss L Fire’ wedges with firebirds across the top. Those are my secret weapon to inspire extra confidence in myself and bring good luck as I embark on new adventures. I enjoy little embellishments in my wardrobe and if they’re whimsical or animal, even better. I wonder if my date will appreciate them.
