The "Champagnes" of the Food World
Most of us are familiar with Champagne, along with other drinks like Bourbon and Scotch, whose very existence and identity is defined by geographical origins. If your sparkling wine does not come from France’s Champagne region, then it is not Champagne; it is merely sparkling wine. There’s a vast array of alcoholic beverages that are identifiable strictly by their provenance, the importance of their place of origin. But what you might not know is that the food world is very much the same. Much like alcoholic beverages, there are both international and regional legal mechanisms that have been put in place to protect the provenance of various foods. This ranges from cheeses (the kingpin of global food provenance and geography-based protections), to tea, to potatoes, and across all corners of the globe, from Roquefort-sur-Souizon, France, to Yunnan in China, to Idaho in the United States. This list is by no means exhaustive, but rather it is merely a glimpse into the extremely important role that geography and politics play in the foods we eat every day. These are some of the "Champagnes" of the food world.

Lemon Curd and Raspberry Jam Stuffed Shredded Wheat Bakes
These lemon curd and raspberry jam-stuffed shredded wheat bakes (I know, it’s a mouthful) were made one day while I was messing around in the kitchen. My thought was a cornflake cake mixed with a stuffed muffin, but all I had at hand was shredded wheat!

Best Restaurants in Atlanta, GA
I was sitting in my favorite breakfast/brunch place called Diner Bakery Company in Kennesaw, GA with my best friend. She and I have always been lovers of food and we probably have a problem with over-ordering, but we don't care. We like to try everything. And we explained this to our waitress, even called ourselves fatties. She corrected us immediately and said we aren't fatties. We're foodies. And that has stuck with me ever since.

You Are What You Eat
We have all heard that said to us as children, "You are what you eat." For most of us, when we hear this we pass it off as something our parents said to us simply to be annoying or perhaps even to induce feelings of guilt. Why else would we have the emergence of "guilt free foods"? However, what if the statement hold some truth? Surely an axiom as old as this, as with many others that have withstood the test of time, must have some truth to it and if it did what would be the implications today with regard to the meat industry and their products which we consume? May I suggest how frightening that potential could be?

What Is Vegan
When I started this vegan thing, I wasn't really sure what I was getting into. I did my research and read the magazines and books and just found it to be healthier. I was never in it for the activism. I just wanted to be better than the generation before me. As time went on, I educated myself and learned. What originally started as something I did for myself and my health turned into something greater. I fell in love with animals in a way I never thought I could. It felt like my body had done a complete 180. What I did not prepare for was the backlash, the questions, and the harassing comments from others.

Chicken Fajita Lettuce Wraps. Top Story - December 2017.
Fajitas are a favourite of mine and many other people too and these chicken fajita lettuce wraps are a low carb version of this much-loved meal. Me personally, I love myself some carbs, so in this recipe I added some brown rice to each lettuce wrap but to keep it super low carb, if that’s what you're aiming for, then just leave it out.

Starbucks Zombie Frappuccino vs the Christmas Tree Frappuccino
If you have never tried the zombie frappuccino when Starbucks had it out, you missed out. The zombie frappuccino was a caramel apple flavor with chocolate mocha syrup and pink whipped cream blended up with ice. I really enjoyed the drink; the drink had an apple flavor with a hint of caramel and chocolate flavor. All the flavors went really great together to form a perfect sweet blend. The whipped cream was supposed to represent the brains of the zombie and it was whipped cream-shaped to look like brains with a pink food coloring add for the perfect tint of pink. The chocolate mocha syrup was supposed to represent the blood of the zombie and that just tasted like chocolate syrup. The green drink represents the zombie and the caramel and apple flavor complimented each other very well; the apple did give more of a punch with flavor, the green drink part had the color of their regular frappuccino with the color green with it. When I stirred the drink a little I think it helped stir the flavors together more, even though they were already great together, it just made the drink taste a little better. If Starbucks were to bring the drink back I would buy it again. The drink was a fun drink for Halloween. I am excited what Starbucks will come out with for next year's Halloween or for the other holidays coming up.

A World Without Oreos
It all started when Oreo publicly shamed me on Twitter. I had posted a photo of chocolate sandwich cookies that I had eaten and I referred to them as Oreos. They were not Oreos. Oreo told me that, for the whole world to see. I was ashamed I could never show my face again. I moved away, changed my name, deleted my Twitter, and I never bought an Oreo again.
