The eulogy of the bastard bear
A primitive hunter walks through the forest as glimmers of sunset guided by leaves through the treetop canopy light his way like embers are guided by the campfire. As a nearby river rages, creating a gentle murmur, the hunter listens as robins and cardinals in the canopy tune their songs to it. The hunter carries nothing but clothes made from animal hides, a spear with which he catches his meals. And his next meal, a rabbit he caught earlier that day but hadn’t prepared to cook yet. He examines the forest floor for evidence of more animal life. As he's tracking he notices the footprints of a bear. The primitive man understands this and readies his spear.

Unordinary
The next morning, I got ready for school. I ate breakfast and then went out and waited for the bus. When it came, I sat in the front behind the bus driver. I didn't see Sai on the bus, either. When I arrived at school, I noticed that the High school was big and colorful. The school was very diverse, and had a lot of people. I went straight into the office to get my schedule. When I walked out, I ran into Sai by the lockers talking to his friends. "Oh hey, Bonnie," He said. He turned his head to his friends saying,"I'll see you guys later, I'm going to show the new girl around." They all gave him a smirk and walked away. I showed him my schedule and he said, "You have Mr. Heckerman's class first. I had him last year. He's an okay teacher, but try not to get on his bad side. He easily gets mad. Oh, and we both have fifth period together."

What is a Wizard?
Thanks to the Harry Potter series, and other works of more modern fantasy like the Dresden Files, wizards have become cool again. Though they were once relegated to the pages of dime novel fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons role playing books, or found only as supporting cast members in old fairy tales and myths, today's wizards have shaved off their beards, hit the gym, and become powerful protectors of humanity in modern fiction. The re-imagining has led a lot of fans to question why wizards were always learned old gray beards with a penchant for philosophy, though. Is it just a stereotype that was built upon cultural touchstones, or was there something more to it?

SADDLEBAGS, Trunks, and Tombs
Chapter 6 Jackson: As he struggled to sit up, he was again amazed that he felt no pain. He was most certain that he had been shot four to five times, yet here he was, pain free and strangely rested. He tried to shield his eyes from the blazing sun of the high noon, though it seemed the sun was not only above him but all around him. It was at that very moment that ‘Old Jack” jumped to his feet. Something was wrong, very wrong, with his hands. Not moments ago, his hands had been soft and cream colored, with the small size and velvety feel of the eastern gentleman, which of course he was.

Salyn Silverthorn
Today was going to be an unusual day. These words were always the first to enter Salyn's mind when his eyes first opened. Salyn found himself on the fringes of Watervale, a small hamlet that has been prospering as of late. Nestled on a babbling brook, Watervale in appearance appears to be the ideal place to live. Sturdy homes, hearty soldiers, and an expansive farm. Spring always brought an ample supply of Salmon for the younger residents to fish out. Bright rays tanning those who stayed outside for to long and burning those who were lulled to sleep by the gentle song of birds. It was peaceful, just like Salyn liked it.

Full Moon Madness
Full Moon Madness Drumbeats, hearts melting. Your memory haunts the corridors of my sequestered dreams, where silhouettes of mountains fill the horizon and tinkles of orchestrated mewlings shatter the chill of a full moon night in northern British Columbia. A land I swore I’d never caress again, especially on All Hallows Eve, the only night these mystical doorways can be traversed. A dimension where nothing is real and everything revolves around dreamtime perception. The realm of the witch called Ximena.

Two Betrayed Chapter 10
Suqqu and Roush scampered through the grass, their tiny size kept them hidden from the humans that had captured them. But they did have dogs, as did every member of this human village, dogs that can easily swallow a Pandor in one bite. And the dogs did have a better sense of smell than humans did.

SADDLEBAGS,Trunks, and Tombs
Chapter 3 Jackson: The smoke was clearing, though he could not truly see it. There were screams. No one screamed at gunfights anymore. The women, who might be around, were very good at keeping it down as gunfights were illegal. Gunfights were a thing of the distant past now a days, but every once in a while.... He had felt the bullets sear into his skin. Four? Five? Yet he felt no pain. Nothing but utter stillness hung in the air around him. Jackson could feel the noonday sun beating down on his skin as well as what felt to be numerous pairs of hands grabbing him on every side. Still, he could hear the screaming and now what sounded like the muffled distress calls of a child. There had been no children around when he had run into street, yet the cries were definitely those of a child. Something wasn’t right. He would bet his life on it, if he was lucky enough to have a life left after all was said and done.
