Santa Isn't Real
When I was younger, I was just like any other child. I was raised with stories of the tooth fairy and the sandman and, of course, Santa Claus. I had always believed it and I never really questioned it. It doesn’t make sense when you think about it, telling children about all of these people and creatures, because they’ll inevitably grow up and know it was all a joke—a worldwide prank on every human aged up to eleven (or fifteen if you were really gullible like my friend was). But now I know better. Why else would they keep the truth from us? It wasn’t to take advantage of a capitalist idea as some people say. It was to protect us. And the way I found out that Santa Claus isn’t real has given me nightmares until the very end.

Alone
I was home by myself when it all happened. My parents had to go on a business trip while I stayed home by myself for two days. This was the first time my parents had decided to leave me at home overnight. I was very nervous when they announced that a few days ago. My only sibling, my older brother, was twenty and staying in an apartment until he could afford a house. My mother told me that if I got sick or hurt I could call my older brother. I didn’t care for my older brother Zac that much. He smoked pot and couldn’t keep a girlfriend for more than a month. I decided against having him over because I never knew when he might be drunk or high. He would invite all of his friends over, and they would trash the house then go run off to wherever they usually go.

Macabre Sex - Gerald's Game
After hearing conflicting opinions on the new Netflix original, Gerald’s Game, I finally sat down to watch it. The reviews I heard were anywhere from "It was boring and I didn’t enjoy it" all the way up to "I had to run to the bathroom to vomit." Obviously, I knew I wouldn’t be the latter, but I hoped not to be the former either. I’m a Stephen King fan, so for another one of his books to make it to the screen pleases me.

HAG - A Story of Sleep Paralysis Part 2
When Ellis woke in the morning, he felt changed. He had never been frightened before, not really. He had heard stories of monsters and seen scary cartoons, but they never affected him. He never needed to sleep with the light on, or never had any real nightmares. The kind of nightmare he had had before was more frustration than fear induced. Nightmares like being stuck on the ceiling while his friends played with his toys on the floor. Dreams he would tell his mum and dad about in the morning as they ate their breakfast.
