Mean Girls Aren’t Just in High School
The Story A childhood friend recently posted a nostalgic meme on Facebook that bore the caption “You never forget the neighborhood kids you grew up with.” She tagged a bunch of us from our old stomping ground. A smile came to my face as I saw my name there and the names of others who shared that special time and place. Instantly many fond memories came to mind. Based on the number of likes and comments it was clear that others were equally touched. Many posted specific memories and others chimed in with “OMG I forgot all about that!” There was a consensus that we were lucky to have grown up where and when we did.

Has Social Media Made Us Nosier?
Social Media has led to us being constantly social - even in our alone time. In the hours you're barely awake, you're absorbing media and taking in information about others when you're not actually in a fit state to face the world. More than 40% of consumers check their phones within the first five minutes of waking up.

Social Media and the Effects of Our Growing Generation
In the past 20 years, social media has been a growing platform for people to stay connected to one another. Depending on who you talk to, some people have even gained immense popularity, and even stardom, by just simply uploading a video once a day or posting a crazy photo with hashtags attached. Now, some of the biggest social media stars out there have a net worth ranging from 1 - 2 million dollars just by sticking to the basic method of "wowing" your average audience. However, the big question on a lot of our mind's are "Is this helping us or hurting us?"

The Vocal Blue-Pencil Forum (via Facebook)
Hello, Vocal fam! So, perusing through a daily article or two, I realized through learning of a new Vocal support group(below) and through my own published and unpublished works——sometimes I make mistakes. Okay, sometimes I make a lot of mistakes! I don’t usually like to edit my own work. Usually I will skim over it once or twice, and be so exited to publish, I’d miss at least a couple of things!

Social Media Gone Wrong
What is it with us? Social media has evolved into something so much more than just keeping in touch with distant relatives and people from one’s past. The direction of social media is heading into is a very unrealistic one. We use social media not for the purpose of staying in touch, as much anymore, but for the sole purpose of a perfect yet fake reality. A place to show how much better they are doing with our lives than yours. Every post, like, comment, and filter being used helps people build our self-esteem, to seek approval from everyone else around them. It seems that the aspect of social media has changed its true purpose and has somehow warped us to be more “confident” about our lives, even if it is not. The truth is that the time spent on social media has a negative impact on society’s life, which can result in poor use of time, unrealistic expectations and ultimately a downfall in a lack of interaction.
