Why We're Returning to Music—Bracket and Weird MC
They're baack!

The Nigerian music industry has come a very long way. The distance between where Nigerian music was two decades ago and today is astronamical. Afrobeats has taken over the world. With new acts like Rema, Ayra Starr, Tems, and more enjoying opportunities, money, and a level of success that the older generation of singers could only aspire to, is it surprising to learn that even these earlier acts want to enjoy a piece of the cake now? Well, that's what happening with two Nigerian acts that were very popular years ago: Weird MC who is most famously known for her hit single "Ijoya" and Bracket, the singing duo most popularly known for their song "Yori Yori".
In new interviews, Weird MC and Bracket reveal why they are making a comeback to the music industry, and here's what they said.

Speaking about how difficult things used to be back then vs how it is now, and why they are making a comeback now, Bracket said:
BRACKET: It was more difficult then. Very very difficult because that time, you have to get a studio session, you have to be very careful about your timing because if you go to a session and you paid for 5 hours, within that 5 hours, you must deliver what you came there for otherwise you'd have to pay for another session and come back again. And then, it was only the radio stations and TV stations limited within Nigeria. There was nothing like Youtube, there was no Twitter, there was no Instagram. So it was really difficult to reach out to other people that were not Nigerians. Before we used to depend on the Nigerian marketers, the Alaba marketers. But right now, if your music is good, you don't care about any marketer. You can put it online. Technology has made it a lot easier than before. So, we have an EP coming. After "Focus", our single, we are planning on releasing another song and then we'll drop the EP by hopefully December. That's what we're working on right now.
Speaking about why she's making her comeback into the game, Weird MC said:
WEIRD MC: There's always a need for additional female expressionists. Now that this Afrobeats renaissance is taking over the world and taking over the global space, it's time to come back out again. I'm doing my thing, but at the same time, I'm introducing new acts. I'm introducing the future.
