My Year, in Prattling and Photos. Top Story - January 2026.
It's been a year since... last year. Ironically, it seems I've found myself a new tradition of getting sick during the New Year holidays. At least, this year (that is, this inter-year period remarkable for its shiny decorations in the streets and houses, and closed supermarkets and pretty much everything), I'm doubtlessly doing better: I've managed to come visit my friends in Germany for Christmas (which I failed to do last year) and—after having some good quality time eating machanka, playing Munchkin and swinging machetes (the last one obviously crept into this checklist only for the sake of the phonological form)—I came back home via proverbial Deutche Bahn and probably less known Schweizerische Bundesbahnen, my body hosting a family of viruses, virions and who knows what other tiny critters somewhere inside my chest.

Chasing Shadows: The Art of Photographic Light in Urban Photography
Introduction: The City in Light and Shadow There is an odd sort of magic in city streets at the time just before dawn, when the city catches its breath and first light seeps into back alleys, casting a glance off rain-drenched pavement. Shadows lengthen thin and blue against the sides of brick buildings. Neon signs burst to life, casting pools of color that move against wet pavement. For the urban photographer, they are momentary jewels—ephemeral compositions that exist only for a second.

The Last Snowfall of Prague
Prague, winter 2023. Snow blanketed the Charles Bridge, dusting Gothic spires like powdered sugar. For Lena, a Czech artist, the Vltava River whispered secrets – of old kings, of revolutions, of love lost in cobblestone alleys. She’d grown up chasing shadows in the city’s veins – her grandfather Ondřej’s stories of musicians who’d played for emperors, poets who’d died for words.

Human Connection in Photography: Capturing Emotion Beyond the Frame
Photography is often described as the art of freezing time, but its true power lies deeper than composition, lighting, or technical perfection. At its core, photography is about human connection—the silent dialogue between the photographer, the subject, and the viewer. A powerful photograph does more than show what someone looks like; it reveals who they are, what they feel, and sometimes, what they cannot say out loud.

The aurora borealis prediction has become very significant to travelers, photographers, scientists, and skywatchers who aspire to see the wondrous Northern Lights. We take more photos today than at any point in history. Our phones capture birthdays, travel adventures, tiny daily joys, and even the unexpected little moments that make us smile.
