A turnaround

Never be blind to who truly sees you.

We are the best of friends,

Saying we’d always be together till the world ends.

Two peas in a pod,

Skipping with a synchronised trod.

We could never stop laughing,

Because we always kept each other smiling.

She is always my best friend,

We’d always be together till the world ends.

We used to be the best of friends,

Said we’d be together till the world ends

Now it seems like a crazy obsession,

Her face in my mind like an endless recession.

I can only see her in dreams,

My fragile heart,

Like a balancing beam.

I wish she’d just text,

But then she’d just say “next”

And ignore my messages,

Though I typed her passages.

It feels sad,

Tastes as awful as an egg turned bad.

We used to be the best of friends,

Till the world ends.

But now,

Has the world already ended?

Because when she left mine it did.

But move on,

Don’t mourn.

I met a girl

Eyes twinkling like pearls.

She was there,

When she turned me down.

She was there,

When I had no one.

I ran to her,

Like my safety net.

But how long?

Till it breaks?

Tears?

Like a fragile heart ripped open,

The strong vessels rid of all strength.

Because all along,

I was running to what my eyes deceived me to be my best friend,

With her sweet smile and mischievous glint.

But I have never turned my head to the one who cushioned my falls,

Turned bad nights to endless “lols”.

Maybe one day I’ll realise how many times she caught me,

From falling into an abyss I’ll never recover from.

Maybe one day

I’ll turn around,

And run towards the person who’s been

Taking my side,

Breaking my falls

Drying my tears.

Maybe today is the day.

Friendship
