Just Another Dead Soldier

So many men taken by the bloody wars of hate

Just Another Dead Soldier

He was just a soldier, they said,

A name scrawled on a weathered stone,

A folded flag, a fleeting glance,

A life the world has outgrown.

No speeches rang when he fell,

No bugles cut the silent air,

Just blood seeping into the soil,

And a blank sky that didn’t care.

He was just a soldier, nothing more,

A shadow lost in endless rows,

A whisper drowned by marching feet,

A seed the battlefield still sows.

No glory touched his final breath,

No victory softened his descent,

Just a soldier, cold and still,

A life the war could not relent.

He was just a soldier, they said,

A name carved deep in silent stone,

No crowd, no cheers, no rising sun.

Just wind that claimed him as its own.

The ground drank red where he had stood,

No anthem stirred the heavy sky,

His rifle cold, his fingers still,

No voice to ask the reason why.

A soldier nothing more or less,

A shadow lost, a fading breath,

And in the quiet of the field,

He met the simple face of death.

He was just a soldier 🪦 Rest In Peace

The privates/seamen of the services are the backbone of service. They should always be remembered. Good job.
