A recent Statista Research Department study showed

That over 80% of Trans people in this country

Have considered suicide

At some point in their lives

Having an entire nation affirm

Their demonization

Through the vote of a minority population

Of mostly shitty people that actually went out to vote

Tends to make that feeling

That you’re a poison in society

Almost seem like a reality.

Trans folks are also 4 times more likely

Than any other demographic

To be the victims of rape, murder, theft,

And outright hate and dehumanization

And that’s the point.

You see,

Today, over 60 countries around the world

Still criminalize and openly discriminate

Against Gender, Romantic,

And Sexual Minorities

But unfortunately for the bigots,

The US hasn’t been one of those countries

For a WHOLE 4 YEARS!

Or maybe I should say

“Hadn’t been”

At least until this year

Now, depending on how loosely defined legal genocide is,

that number’s grown by one more,

And this country’s in a full-on backslide

While the war against minorities

Is in full swing once again, babeh!

Time to pull out all the stops

And crank that inhumane obsession

With the oppression of the downtrodden

Up to a notch!

Because it’s become readily apparent

That we’re STILL not suffering enough.

Real talk though…

The time to sugarcoat reality

In America

Is long past

The painful truth is that

Persecution

Has always been a staple of this country.

And it’s not privy to change

As long as those

With selfish, corrupt beliefs and a neanderthalic need

To always be at war

Against a group of defenseless people

Continue to look down on us from their thrones of privilege.

The only constant we have these days

Is that it’s difficult for so many of us not to feel helpless.

It’s difficult not to feel powerless.

It’s difficult not to feel targeted.

It’s difficult not to feel vilified.

But that’s just more of a reason

To be a beacon of reassurance for the people around you

Be the moral support

For the friend that needs it

Be the shoulder

To the victim

Looking to let out

Tears of frustration

Caused by the very

Country and home

That, through lies and vitriol,

Managed to convince them that

They’re nothing but a burden to the rest of us

Tell someone they matter.

And mean it.

Because voting isn’t the only superpower you have

Simply being a good person

To the people around you

Can make you a superhero

In your own right

To someone living in a society trying to deny their very existence

One friend can make a world of a difference.

Strive to be that world of a difference for someone.
