Getting to Know Someone – A Lost Cause
Sitting on the subway on a Sunday evening, I witnessed a very intriguing scene. From the very first station, there was a tall man on the train with a striking sense of style. It felt as though his image had been lifted straight out of a music video by an 80s rock artist.

My First Love
The sun dappled through the overhang of leaves, creating moving shaded areas on the well used wooden seats of the old library. Aryan, a tranquil kid with a universe of contemplations behind his scenes, was immersed in an exhausted duplicate of "Pride and Bias." His heart beat with an odd musicality, a blend of expectation and apprehension, as he sat tight for her.

Transgender Awareness Week
As Transgender Awareness Week ends, I find myself reflecting on my journey, not just as a trans woman but as someone who has fought to elevate the voices of my community in a world often too ready to silence us. I’ve been blessed to call Miami Beach home, a city that embraced my authenticity and allowed me to grow into an activist, model, and proud advocate for LGBTQ+ equality. Receiving a Proclamation in 2021 from Commissioner Alex Fernandez, declaring November 30th “Lauren Foster Day,” was an incredible honor. But today, my joy is tempered by deep concern.

Extending a Hand not Hatred
I need to take a break from the net, social media can be so tiresome and the amount of ignorance that comes across the screen is absolutely insufferable at times. I found myself quarrelling online, with the obtuse, after watching the documentary, "Will and Harper" a few days ago. It was such a moving display of human vulnerability and compassion, demonstrating how we should positively accept and understand our fellow LGBTQ+ human beings, who may be dealing with a tremendous amount of fear and anxiety because of the differences in their psychological and physiological makeup. The emotions this movie raised within me, no doubt fueled the exasperation I felt with those vilifying and condemning Will for his understanding and Harper for her existence.
