Hazbin Hotel
When I was at San Diego Comic Con I heard a lot about Hazbin Hotel. Now before that I had seen the title before but I had absolutely no concept of what it was about, what genre it was or anything like that. Well at SDCC I found out that it was an animated musical tv show about demons. There isn’t a single thing that could be more up my alley. So I have been binge watching the first season of the series. The second season is on it's way and I can not wait.

Caped Crusader
So far Batman: The Caped Crusader is more than I had hoped for. Now admittedly I had set the bar really low because the overwhelming amount of Batman media is sexist and subpar at best as a whole. There are very few redeemable projects and honestly most aren’t worth the watch. Thus far, this one is worth the watch. Between the introduction of pretty much everyone interesting in Gotham City, and the different focus every episode the show seems to not only understand its roots but rely on them. The creative team clearly understands what made the original animated series successful and they are taking the best parts of that formula and applying them here.

Drive Away Dolls
There has been a rise in lesbian media this year and I love it alot. Among those titles is Drive Away Dolls. I am very behind in my movie watching for the year but I am doing my best to catch up. Everything I know about this movie screams “campy as hell” and I really hope that I’m right because that’s what I’m here for. So here we go with my latest, super late movie review.

Civil War
So when I saw the trailer for Civil War I knew that this movie was going to be weird at best, terrible if we’re being realistic. The casting was strong but as we know that is nowhere near enough to make a good movie. But I love A24 and I have faith so here we are.

American Society of Magical Negroes
Okay so when I first saw the trailer for this movie, and saw the title, I was concerned that the premise might not be executed correctly. But I had hope, hope that I would be properly, white person uncomfortable. And not actually, wow this is really bad uncomfortable. Now I would also like to recognize before I go into my review that my voice is not the most important one here and should a reviewer with a more personal stake in this have an opposite opinion, that is the one that you should listen to. This is simply a review from my very limited point of view.

Damsel
Netflix has really cranked out the original content this year, and I am behind on all of it. Milly Bobby Brown’s Damsel serves up a pretty basic twist on a fantasy story. I think we all could tell from the first look that it was going to be your basic feminist fairytale, which isn’t inherently bad but it is all in the execution. And if we are being completely honest I don’t really have a lot of faith in Netflix writers. They seem more concerned about simply getting out content than creating and telling stories. But here we go with my actual review of Damsel.

Rings of Power
Prime Video’s Rings of Power season 2 will be released on August 29th. All 8 episodes of season 1 are currently streaming on Prime Video. But in case you don’t feel like a binge watch before you jump into season 2, or if you thought you remembered everything and then realized that you really really didn’t, we are here with all of the information that you need to know about season 1, before heading into season 2.

Orion and the Dark
We are catching up on the movies of 2024 that I just simply did not get to when they came out. We are on Orion and the Dark, the newest animated film from Dreamworks. Dreamworks has been doing some really great stuff the last few years, I just feel like it gets overshadowed by Disney and Pixar. Even though I stand firm on Ruby Gillman being 1000X better then Wish. So we will see if they keep up that trend with this newest film.

Alien: Romulus
Well we went to see the newest Alien movie…and it was exactly what I expected it to be. I think we all know by now that I have a burning, fiery hatred for remakes, reboots and unnecessary sequels. As far as those things go Alien Romulus is a shitty remake. Can’t be a sequel really because it doesn’t expand on or add anything to the world, though it does vaguely acknowledge what came before it. But really this movie was The Force Awakens. An unbelievably bad version of what launched the franchise.

A Family Affair
We are finally feeling the effects of the duel strike that effectively shut down Hollywood last year. Few films are getting theatrical releases this year and anything that was produced seems to be going straight to streaming services. That said Netflix, Max, and Prime Video have all been seemingly cranking out the original content and as a reviewer I have to do my due diligence. So today we are taking on Netflix’s A Family Affair. I know nothing about this movie and honestly the most intriguing thing about it is its cast. I will watch Zac Efron in just about anything, so here we go.

Twisters
We went to go see Twisters this past weekend. Glen Powell really can generate chemistry with absolutely nothing. There were parts that were funny, and entertaining and even actually good. That said, not even Glen’s incredible magnetism could save this movie from mediocrity. There was really nothing extremely wrong with the film but there was also nothing extremely good about it. So let’s talk about Twisters.

Deadpool and Wolverine
Deadpool and Wolverine has been a highly anticipated film for nerds everywhere for quite some time now. I myself was extremely excited to see this movie. The first two Deadpool movies are hilarious but they are also narratively good stories with strong emotional cores. So imagine my surprise when I finally saw Deadpool and Wolverine and it was not good. Sorry nerds I know this might get me kicked out of the club but the film was underwhelming at best and disappointing at realistic.
