Should Nikkita Lyons Turn Heel?
As a fan and avid watcher of WOW - Women of Wrestling, I'm still elated to see Nikkita Lyons in World Wrestling Entertainment. She's one of a few names from WOW who have hit the mainstream market; Impact Wrestling currently has Gisele Shaw, who competed in WOW as Azteca, and in the case of Nikkita Lyons, she competed as Faith the Lioness in the promotion. I remember that gimmick, it mainly centered on her music background, and I also remember being afraid that they would make her a heel. Wrestling promotions always seem to make villains out of multi-talented characters, it's an easy thing to do, but that was not the case with Faith the Lioness. Nikkita Lyons (real name Faith Jefferies) was signed by WWE in 2021, and made her televised WWE debut on New Year's Eve on an episode of what was then known as 205 Live (it's now NXT Level Up). In WOW, I didn't want Faith to be a heel, but after eight months of seeing Nikkita, I now want Nikkita to be a villainess, because she has the look.

A Look at the 1988-89 Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames' road to the Stanley Cup in 1989 was quite a rocky one. The team began play in Atlanta in 1972, playing there for eight seasons with very little success. It was in 1980 that they moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Calgary, Alberta, Canada; remaining in the Patrick Division (when it was part of the Campbell Conference) before being permanently placed in the Smythe Division beginning in the 1981-82 season. That was the year that the began their contentious rivalry with their provincial foes, the Edmonton Oilers.

CFL Week 9 Recap: Full Control
The 2022 Canadian Football League season has entered the month of August, which is an important month, as it brings the season closer to the Labour Day matchups. It's also a pacesetting month, and regarding Week 9, the action kicked off in Montréal, with the Alouettes hosting the undefeated defending back-to-back champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The game was strangely close, and even entering the fourth quarter, it was tied: 14-14. It did look like we were in for an upset, but it would not come to pass, as the Bombers outscored the Als 21-6 in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 35-20 victory.

Villainess Review: Fran Gibbons (A Dangerous Affair)
Lifetime's theme for the month of August is "Love, Lies, and Deception,", and the batch of films listed under that theme are quite appetizing. The list included this film, A Dangerous Affair (originally titled, Her Obsession), and it centers on Amélie Didot, a Pilates instructor whose encounter with one of her clients, journalist Pierce Dalton, leads to a budding romance. Pierce has gained attention from many women, one of them being another participant, Fran Gibbons, who gushed over Pierce during her conversation with Amélie.

The Spectacular Career of Sidney Crosby
It doesn't seem like Sidney Crosby's been in the NHL for 17 years, and about to enter his 18th. It seems like yesterday that he was a high level pick in the NHL draft, but it was so long ago. I still remember the big buzz about Sidney Crosby, mainly this question: "Wayne Gretzky is The Great One. Is Crosby, 'The Next One'?" I figured Crosby would be an amazing player, but I never thought he'd reach Hall of Fame status, and so quickly!

It's amazing how every sport seems to have (at least) one athlete who can't seem to stay away from any controversy and/or trouble. I wrote about Evander Kane and his many, many problems during his NHL career. The world of wrestling has Sunny, and we all know so much about everything Antonio Brown's done during his NFL career. So who is the ultimate villain in the world of soccer? It's actually a villainess, and she's none other than Hope Solo.

Villainess Review: Elena Ruiz (The Rookie)
I absolutely love The Rookie with a passion, and even that is an understatement. I was sold on this very quickly; all it took was learning that Nathan Fillion was starring on this show, and I was in (thanks to my adoration for his other ABC show, Castle). The series began as a Tuesday show, but has aired on Sundays since the second season began, and it is part of my Sunday habit. When I am finished watching whatever sports are on (NFL early in the season, NHL later on), when the clock strikes 10PM in the West Coast, I tune in to The Rookie. Now I mention the show being part of my Sunday routine, but despite this, the villainess that I am reviewing is from Season One, which aired on Tuesdays.

CFL Week 8 Recap: All It Takes is One
It seems like yesterday that the Ottawa Redblacks debuted in the CFL, but their first season took place in 2014. Year Two saw them in the Grey Cup, losing to the then-named Edmonton Eskimos, but Year Three would be better for the Redblacks, as they won their first Grey Cup with an overtime victory over the Calgary Stampeders. The Redblacks returned to the Grey Cup in 2018 and came up short, but they would go nowhere else but down since then. Ottawa won a grand total of six games in the two seasons they've played since losing the Grey Cup to the Stampeders, and at the one-third mark of their season, they found themselves winless.

The month of July always sees the first half of the Major League Baseball season come to a close, and it's followed by the Midsummer Classic, aka MLB's All-Star Game. After the festivities take place, the second half begins, and that's when the paces are really set in the pennant races. The room for error decreases once August hits, and with that said, here are the key moments that took place in July.

A Sinister Sextet: Top 6 Disney Villains Worthy of a Standalone Film
We are seeing a trend in cinema. We are seeing Disney come out with films that put their most diabolical villains in the spotlight. We were treated to not one, but two films centered on Maleficent, the main villainess from Sleeping Beauty, with the first film being released in 2014 while the sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil came out in 2019. Both films starred Angelina Jolie in the iconic role, but it didn't stop there. In 2021, Disney+ gave us Cruella, which was a look at the early life of 101 Dalmatians' Big Bad. Emma Stone played the titular Cruella de Vil, and we could get a sequel to the hit film (fingers crossed)!

Many Happy Returns: Reviewing a Spectacular SummerSlam for WWE's Women's Division
When Triple H took over calling the shots in World Wrestling Entertainment, many fans (myself included) saw this as a much needed breath of fresh air. So many stated that Triple H running things would lead to improvements throughout WWE, and the diehard women's wrestling fans (again, myself included) felt that there would be moments that would leave us shocked, amazed, and most importantly, deliriously happy. The feel hadn't arrived yet, but it was believed that it would hit us at SummerSlam.

Villainess Review: Naomi Shawn (Alfred Hitchcock Presents)
Good evening. I do love Alfred Hitchcock Presents, the classic anthology series that served as one of many great contributions from the Master of Suspense himself. The series ran from 1955-1962, and it was followed by The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, a 60-minute version of Presents that aired between 1962 and 1965. So a full decade of this thrilling series, as well as a revival series that aired during the latter half of the 1980s. Reruns of the series air on MeTV daily, and all episodes of the series are on Peacock.
