5 Must-Watch Historical Korean Dramas Inspired by Webtoons
♦ The History of Webtoons ♦ The term “webtoon” (웹툰) combines web + cartoon. Today, webtoons are a major force in digital entertainment. How did they get here? It all started in the early 2000s, when Korean portals like Daum (2003) and Naver (2004) started hosting vertically scrolling comics optimized for computers and, later, smartphones. They grew in popularity very quickly for a number of reasons, beginning with the fact that most webtoons were free to read. Additionally, they have a mobile-friendly design, there are diverse genres and voices, and social media sharing is super easy. Finally, webtoons have enjoyed cross-media success. Popular webtoons actually inspired anime, films, and Korean dramas, and more readers got addicted. By the late 2010s, Naver (with WEBTOON) and Kakao (with Tapas) had gone global, translating top series into English, Japanese, French, etc. Amazing success story, huh?

Disney’s New Tween Era Glows with Millennial Nostalgia: “Electric Bloom” & “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire”
The Disney Channel has always been a network I could count on throughout my life. From watching Lizzie McGuire with my friends in high school because Aaron Carter was guest-starring, to belting out songs from High School Musical with my sisters well into our twenties—Disney always hit the mark. Sure, I wasn’t always the intended age group for their shows, but they never failed to put a smile on my face. One thing’s for sure: Disney has a knack for spotting talent and turning them into stars.

Reviewing "9-1-1: Nashville" Following Their Series-Opening Arc
I have really enjoyed the 9-1-1 franchise for nearly a decade now, and of course, I got into this because I've been a Ryan Murphy fan ever since Nip/Tuck. It's hard to believe that the original series is in its ninth season, having premiered during the heart of the 2017-18 TV season; originally on Fox before making the move to ABC during Season Seven. The original series takes place in Los Angeles, while the first spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star, took place in Texas, and just recently ended its run.
