This Is What You Came For 2/1/2018 We broke up in February 2016 in the most horrible way, just few days shy of Valentines day, AND shortly after i had given him $150 towards his light bill. You see, although he claimed to “love” me, I didn’t have my own place, an amazing job, or a car and I could tell he was growing tired of having to be a man and take care of himself by himself. He couldn’t use me. It didn’t matter that I was faithful, truly cared about him and his opinions, and that, when I wasn’t with him, I was thinking of him. None of that mattered. You see, he was a 35 year old drug dealer from the hood and I was a 22 year old dental receptionist from the suburbs. He was the beast that jumped at prey and opportunity and I was the naive, lonely, broken hearted girl looking for real love. For a while we existed together, bound tightly by passion, excitement, and the sheer thrill of a new thing. Happiness lived between us until the night I had the audacity to go out with my girls after he had caught “feelings” for me. At first it was “Ok. have fun, hmu later” text messages but an hour later I was getting abusive paragraphs filled with bitch, hoe, and dick sucking. I got my party on and woke up the next day shocked and pissed at first, then hurt and sad then flattered and relieved that he was so scared of losing me that he couldn’t control himself. So with me being naive, as I mentioned earlier, he apologized and I forgave. Sadly though, after that even with all the bending and compromising I tried to do for him, every time we had a disagreement I became that bitch and hoe again and I took it, 1) because I cared about him and 2) because I believe in making up and fixing things not just giving up. So come February–7 months in, I believe–he’s acting as if we’d been married 10 years and I’m that can’t-get-it-right housewife that needs to be verbally chastised everyday. I couldn’t understand why, every time I tried to do what he said, things just got worse.

I've always been put off by the idea of dating, I'm more of a "love at first sight" kind of person. My friends and family often poked fun at this, believing me overly selective. They thought if a guy seemed nice and was reasonably attractive, that I should,"stop being such a snob and give him a chance." Let me be clear, I wasn't a gold digger or excessively shallow type, but I didn't want to waste time with anyone with whom I didn't share that special spark! I suppose my friend's lectures eventually wore me down though, priming me for the events I'm about to share.

I made it to 31. One year older and another year wiser. I was out enjoying drinks with my younger sister, and after many laughs and shots she suggested that I join a popular dating app that millions of people use. She stated that she knows couples who have met through the site and some have even gotten married. I was unsure about it. After reading countless stories of dates going wrong, I dismissed her sentiment. As 2018 approached I thought of all the countless things I want to carry out in the coming year. Well here goes. I have been single for almost 11 years since my first late partner passed away. I have been going on dates here and there but nothing was ever serious. I guess after being single for a long time the thought of being committed would be very hard for me to adjust. One day, I decided to download the app Grindr which is an app for gay men to meet other guys around them and after uploading my profile, I received a message from 3 guys and they were all seemed desperate so I thought this could be a bad idea and deleted the app after 2 days as messages I received was very bizarre. One day, I was at Starbucks and I ordered myself a caramel frappe with whipped cream and requested for extra caramel on top of it and I heard a voice from behind me saying "isn't that amazing to have more caramel on top of it?!" I thought to myself that the person behind me is probably talking to his friend but I turned and he was actually talking to me! I was kind of a surprise because nobody talks to me in public like EVER! But spontaneously, i responded with " It's the best feeling EVER!" we both smiled and I said, "I thought you were talking to someone" and he said "Nah, I was talking to you because I order the same thing and i feel like I was the only one who orders that but its good to know I'm not weird and there's someone out there having the same as me"

My Most Embarrassing Date
We've all done it. Went on a date with someone who we met online or even a blind date, and then once it finally happens, you're regretting every second of it. This happened to me not too long ago. I met a decent looking guy online, who was capable of having a respectful conversation with me (which is hard to come by these days with no forward questions or pervy comments). So we decided to meet up at a pizza shop.

It was a lovely Spring day in Savannah, Georgia. I remember it vividly although I wish I could forget. I had just recently gotten my undergrad and moved to the South where my family had been living for nearly two years. Fresh off the boat (or janky Jeep Liberty) with a film degree, I figured I could get a good start in good ole' Georgia. I mean they filmed Magic Magic 2 there, for goodness sake!
